After close to eighty accumulative hours, both recording sessions that were recently tracked this summer are finally mixed and mastered! Both Narratives (which features Lucas Pino, Itamar Borochov, Angelo Spagnolo, Glenn Zaleski, Ross Gallager & Michael W. Davis) and These Are The Words (featuring a quartet composed of Darren Johnston, Myra Melford & Matt Wilson) will be packaged as a double-disk, which will be available for physical purchase and online download. Stay tuned for CD release details sometime in early 2011. It was an absolute pleasure and very intense learning experience to produce these records. I’d like to give a shout out to all nine colleagues who played their hearts out on this music. I couldn’t be happier with the final product!

In other news, this Saturday, The Chives will be playing a show at The Freedom Garden (294 Troutman Ave in Bushwick, Brooklyn). The Chives features Max Jaffe on drums and Matthew Wohl on upright bass who actually just moved to Brooklyn after studying at UCSanDiego with Mark Dresser. All three of us grew up together in the SFbayarea. Since then, we’ve been living together in Bushwick! The music and collective sound has never been better, so we are all really excited for this show and other upcoming dates. We also just launched a website for The Chives (chivesmusic.com). There are also new tracks on our Bandcamp page. Here are the details for this Saturday:

9PM-Hover Trane-John Stanesco (Reeds), Rudy Semah (bass), Justin Veloso (drums), Zach Pruitt (guitar)

10PM Weasel Walter (drums), Mario Rechtern (sax, electronics)

11pm-The Chives-Matthew Wohl (Bass), Max Jaffe (Drums), Steven Lugerner (Reeds)

In other news, the new IN ONE WIND record is in the process of being mixed. So after laying down layers upon layers of woodwind tracks, you’ll all get to hear it sometime early in 2011.

Also stay tuned for upcoming killerBOB performances. Michael Wilbur and myself (known collectively as “the dogpack”) just joined killerBOB; giving the band an entirely new uber-intense sound.
